A joint project between University of Queensland’s Visitor Research Centre and Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base in China is set to improve the quality of visitor experiences and education.
The School of Tourism’s Visitor Research Centre is recognised internationally as a leader in visitor interpretation. The team headed by Professor Roy Ballantyne will be instrumental in the creation of a world class visitor interpretation plan at the Chengdu facility.
Senior Researcher assigned to the project, Karen Hughes said “This project will assist with the design of exhibits in the conceptual phase” and will also, “incorporate the development of school based field trips and family education kits.”
“Future benefits emanating from the collaboration will include increased opportunities for UQ scholars to conduct research projects comparing and contrasting Chinese and international visitor perceptions of environmental and conservation issues.” Karen Hughes
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a non-profit organization engaged in wildlife research, captive breeding, conservation education and educational tourism.
