School of Tourism forum links industry leaders
More than 100 of Queensland’s finest tourism minds considered the impact of the Global Financial Crisis on the industry at a forum this month. Organised by the UQ School of Tourism in partnership with Brisbane Marketing, the forum, Economic Storm Riders – Turning Downturn into Opportunity, heard corporate culture that embraced creativity and valued staff input was just one of the ways savvy operators were using the downturn to their advantage. School of Tourism Director of Industry Partnerships Dr David Solnet said the forum fostered the connection between academia and the coal face of industry and was designed to keep the School of Tourism top of mind among industry and government partners and representatives.
