Nicolette Ellis a graduate of UQ has recently completed the Intercontinental Hotel Group I-Grad progam after completing her Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management degree.
'I believe that the School of Tourism at UQ has prepared me for the challenges that I will face in my career; developing me as a competitive individual equipped with a depth of knowledge and experience. Furthermore, through initiatives such as the Executive Shadowing Program, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the Hotel industry. This led me to an informed decision of what company would suit my passion and drive for the Hospitality industry. The enthusiasm displayed by the School of Tourism lecturers and staff made my experience at university extremely inspiring and has left me with a legacy to continue in my career. The time spent at university has been extremely fulfilling and I feel fortunate to have been apart of the graduates of UQ.'
'Whilst completing my last year of my Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management degree, I attained one of the four positions available in Queensland as an I-Grad with Intercontinental Hotel Group. Only twelve positions are available in Australia on a yearly basis with Queensland attracting a strong percentage of applicants.'
The I-Grad program is aimed at developing graduates into industry leaders, fast-tracking their careers through an innovative program that inspires passion, creativity and dedication.
'The process of attaining an I-Grad position with Intercontinental Hotel Group was very intense and challenging. I believe that courses such as the Professional Development Course gave me an edge over competitors. Furthermore, the tasks I encountered with Intercontinental Hotel Group were very similar to the assessment completed at the University.'
